Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced on Monday that efforts to secure the safe evacuation of former Senator Mushtaq Ahmad Khan, who was unlawfully detained by Israeli forces, are progressing positively and may conclude within the next few days.

Pakistan Working ‘Vigorously’ for Release

In an official statement, the Foreign Office spokesperson confirmed that the Pakistani Embassy in Amman, Jordan, is working “continuously and vigorously” to ensure the senator’s release and safe evacuation. The statement reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to protecting the rights and safety of its citizens abroad, especially in conflict-affected regions.

The spokesperson emphasized that diplomatic efforts are being carried out at the highest level, with coordination between Pakistan’s missions in Amman and Tel Aviv’s intermediaries through trusted diplomatic channels.

Jordan’s Key Role Recognized

Acknowledging the vital role played by Jordan, the spokesperson said, “With the invaluable assistance of the Jordanian government, we are hopeful that the process can be successfully concluded within the next couple of days.”

Pakistan also expressed its deep gratitude to the Jordanian authorities for their cooperation and swift response. “We are deeply grateful to the brotherly government of Jordan for their exemplary cooperation and generous support,” the statement read.

The Foreign Office underscored that Pakistan and Jordan enjoy long-standing diplomatic relations based on shared faith, regional peace efforts, and mutual respect.

Commitment to Citizen Protection

The ministry reiterated that Islamabad remains steadfast in its commitment to safeguarding Pakistani nationals abroad and will continue to engage with regional partners to resolve such issues peacefully.

While no further details were provided about the circumstances of Mushtaq Ahmad Khan’s detention, officials assured that the situation is being closely monitored and that his safe return remains the top priority.

If the evacuation proceeds as planned, it will mark a significant diplomatic success for Pakistan’s Foreign Office and a reaffirmation of the strong ties between Islamabad and Amman in times of crisis.
